Summit For Heroes
Dear Survivors:
Here are several pictures from our successful summit of Backbone
Mountain in Garrett County on Saturday, May 20th at 12:21 PM. In
comparison to many other mountains in the U.S., our 34 minute hike on a
moderate pitch wasn't exactly an Everest event, but its meaning
certainly was. In honor of all of your loved ones, it was the least we
could do to show our support for you and your families.
In this first picture, from left to right: TFC. Jason Crowe and son
Austin; SGT. Dan Weaver; CPL. Dan Whittington; SGT. Steve Tom and son
Jalen. We are all Maryland State Troopers assigned to the SOD/ S.T.A.T.E.
Team.

The remaining pictures are close-ups of the banner.

I added the C.O.P.S. flag to the middle
of the banner, and the pictures of 12 Fallen Heroes with whom I had some
personal connection. I was a member of the MSP color guard detail for
several years and served as the honor/color guard, and casket watch for
most of those pictured on the banner. It was an honor to witness and to
be a part of the ceremonies given to each of them. Please understand
that those not listed or pictured are certainly not forgotten.
Please click on the below link, then click on Climber's Log, and scroll
down to the Maryland Update for the most recent information. Kudos
should certainly go to Keith McPheeters and Greg Hughes for organizing
this amazing event.

Thank you for allowing us to honor your loved ones. "We will not
forget."
Sincerely,
SGT. Steve Tom
